Lorene Lurtz, age 93, of O'Fallon, born February 25, 1928, in O'Fallon, to Sophie, nee Kassing, Kombrink and William Kombrink, passed away Thursday morning, September 16, 2021 at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, Ill.

Lorene grew up on a farm near O'Fallon. She was an avid Cardinals fan and never missed a game on the radio or television. She was a longtime member of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church.

She attended O'Fallon Township High School; upon graduation, she furthered her education by attending Beauty Culture School in East St. Louis. Lorene worked as a hair beautician and started her own business called "Rene's Shop," located at 302 East State Street in O'Fallon.  Once she was married and had her children to care for, she continued to work part-time for another 50 years.

Lorene was married to Robert W. Lurtz on February 5,1949. He preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother Raymond and his wife Lou; sister Leona and her husband Bill Malacarne, and sister Florence Distler.

Surviving are her four children, daughter Rhonda Patrick and husband Mike of St. Louis; son Bruce and wife Debra of Olathe, Kans.; son Keith of Fla.; and daughter Sherry Mulder and husband John of Fla.; five grandchildren  Meghaan (Justin), Michael, Marshall, Matthew (Farsona), and Natalie (Ian); two great-grandchildren; her brother Ardell Kombrink and his wife Bernice; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11 am, Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 N. Lincoln Ave., O'Fallon. The service will follow at 11 am, Tuesday, at the church, with Pastor Vern Lintvedt officiating. Burial will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
