Madonna Josephine Koch (née Norrenberns), age 83, passed away on June 23, 2026, in Shiloh, Illinois, just two days after celebrating her 83rd birthday. She was born on June 21, 1943, in Albers, Illinois, to Bernard “Ben” Norrenberns and Pauline Norrenberns (née Baahlmann).Madonna was born and raised in Albers, Illinois, where she grew up as one of seven children in a close-knit family. She graduated from Mater Dei High School in Aviston, Illinois.In 1962, Madonna married the love of her life, Timothy G. Koch. Together they shared more than 55 years of marriage built on love, faith, family, and friendship. Madonna and Tim were not only devoted marriage partners, but successful business partners as well. Together, they became one of the area's top real estate teams, serving hundreds of clients throughout the O’Fallon and Shiloh communities over several decades.
Madonna’s real estate career was a source of great pride throughout her life. For more than 40 years, she dedicated herself to the real estate industry, earning a reputation as a respected broker and home developer. Working side by side with Tim, she was consistently recognized as a top producer and helped develop custom homes throughout the area. Together, they played a meaningful role in shaping the growth and character of the communities they loved. Madonna found great fulfillment in helping families find not just houses, but homes. She treasured the relationships she built with clients, colleagues, and friends and was known for her professionalism, integrity, passion, and commitment to excellence. Her career reflected her vision, dedication, and the positive impact she made on the lives of many.
Madonna will be remembered for her devotion to family and friends, her enduring faith, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her Christian faith was a source of comfort and strength throughout her life and guided her daily actions. She was an active member of her church community and enjoyed Bible study and fellowship with fellow believers.To those who knew her, Madonna was truly a ray of sunshine. She loved being outdoors, tending to her beautiful flower gardens, playing card and board games, and attending social gatherings with family and friends. Her warm smile, generous heart, and welcoming spirit made everyone feel valued and loved.Family was among Madonna’s greatest blessings. She was an inspirational wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with those she loved.
Madonna is survived by her son, Scott Koch (Jenny); her daughter, Wendy Hermann (Louis); and her adored grandchildren, Meghan (Gil), Mackenzie (Ryan), Reilly, Aiden, Neeley, Lilly, and Preston. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren, Tommy and Sofia.She is further survived by her siblings, Pat Norrenberns (Esther), Monica Barkis (Les), and Paulette Templin; her sister-in-law, Betty Norrenberns; numerous loving nieces and nephews; extended family members; and countless dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Timothy G. Koch; her parents, Bernard and Pauline Norrenberns (née Baahlmann); her sister, Lorraine Schniers; and her brothers, Thomas Norrenberns and James Norrenberns.
A private family burial will take place at a future date. The family is also planning a public celebration of Madonna’s life, with details to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Madonna's memory to a Christian ministry, church, or charitable organization of the donor's choice. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this time.
Madonna’s legacy lives on through the family she loved, the homes and communities she helped create, and the many lives she touched through her faith, friendship, and distinguished career. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
