Manuel F. Fernandez, age 83, of Swansea, Ill., passed away November 4, 2021.

Manny was born March 7, 1938 in a small coal-mining community in Kentucky. He soon moved to Barberton, Ohio, were he graduated high school. He earned his Economics & Finance degree from Kent State University, where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. For many years, he was a salesman for Stryker Medical Supplies. Over the past 30 years, Manny became accomplished at restoring old toys, including metal pedal cars, trains, and trucks. He was a resident of Garland, Texas form 1982 – 2014, at which time he moved to Swansea, Ill.; he missed the warm Texas weather and his friends and colleagues in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Franco and Amanda, nee Johnson, Fernandez.

Surviving are his step-son James (Debbie) Hale, of Belleville; his five grandchildren; his sister Fran Miller of Ohio; nephew Mark Miller and niece Ronelle Hood.
