Margaret L. Swanson, nee Stepp, age 86, of New Baden, Ill. born July 17, 1937 in Swindon, England passed away at her home on August 18, 2023. We are all so thankful that she was able to visit and spend time with her family throughout the last week prior to her unexpected passing.

Margaret grew up in England during World War II and the post-war recovery. In the early 1950s she met and married her late husband Kenneth C. Swanson, a young Air Force airman, on September 8, 1956, at Christ Church in Swindon, England. Over their 64-year marriage they lived in or visited multiple continents, countries, and states. They settled here in the Metro-East to enjoy watching their children's families grow. Margaret spent a lot of her time babysitting her grandchildren and in her free time, sometimes with a grandchild, she would deliver Meals on Wheels. Along with her late husband Ken, Margaret was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in O'Fallon for over 40 years. As well as church, Margaret enjoyed watching her favorite English shows on PBS, old movies on TCM, reading, and keeping a meticulous house.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Swanson, who passed away April 22, 2021; her parents Leslie and Gwendoline, nee Avenell, Stepp; and her twin sister Vera Stepp.

Margaret is survived by her children Paul (Donna) Swanson of O'Fallon, and Carolyn (Robert Jr.) Frisse of New Baden; four grandchildren Melanie (Caleb) Dziurdzy, Michael Swanson, Gwendolyn (Danny Wiggins) Frisse, and Cale Frisse; and great-grandchildren Camden, Alina, and Lydia Dziurdzy; her sister Beryl Green of Swindon, England; and sister-in-law Marie (Marvin) Arneson of Prentice, Wisc. We would be remiss if we didn't mention their beloved cat Daisy.
