Maria do Rosario da Silva Azevedo, age 78, born April 7, 1931 in Manadas, Caricello das Velas, Portugal, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday morning, December 13, 2009 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Illinois.

Maria came to the United States to be near her daughter in 1976. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her Catholic faith was precious to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joáo da Silva Azevedo and Serafińa Adelaide da Silva; and her son-in-law Capt. Rex A. Murray, USAF, who died October 26, 1986.

She is survived by her daughter Maria Murray of O'Fallon; and four grandchildren, Barbara Murray of Columbus, Ohio, Nicole Murray of Seattle, Wash., Nancy (Daniel) Martin of Albany, Geo., and Rob (Lauren) Murray of Downer's Grove, Ill. Also surviving are her three great grandchildren, Zoe and Zachary Martin and Tyler Murray.
