IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie
Manning
February 10, 1928 – March 2, 2023
Marie A. (nee Ludwig) Manning, 95, wife of the late Alton E. Manning, born in Klein Mohrau, Germany on February 10, 1928 earned her angel wings on March 2, 2023 in Pasadena, TX.
Marie came to the US as a military wife and became a naturalized US citizen in Charleston, SC in 1956. She and Alton would once again be stationed in Europe for military tours in France and Germany, followed by Dover Air Force Base, Delaware and later arriving at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Marie began a career in food services with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service and retired in 1983 after 20 years of faithful and dedicated service. Slowing down was not in her plans however, and she enjoyed working in the cafeteria at Hinchcliffe School in O'Fallon for another 15 years. She always talked about how good she felt caring for the young school children. Marie taught her family and those around her the virtue of hard work.
Marie loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife to Alton until his passing in 2007. They had 2 children, of whom she was very proud, Heidrun (Roger) Frazier and Michael (Debbie) Manning. She had 4 grandchildren whom she adored, Roger (Jennifer) Frazier, Jr., Randy (Amanda) Frazier, Mikayla (Matt) Peddicord and Michael Ryan (Mary) Manning, and 5 precious great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Hayden Frazier, Ansley Frazier, and Jackson and Jaden Manning. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Rosa Ludwig, her sister and brother-in-law, Rosl and Rudi Raab, and her nephew, Werner Boehm.
Marie was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. She spent many mornings and evenings reading her Bible and she regularly attended Belleville Assembly of God and later O'Fallon Assembly of God. Marie moved from O'Fallon to the Houston area to be near her daughter Heidi in 2016.
