Mark S. Friederich, DMD, age 67, of Troy, Ill., born August 30, 1950 in Alton, passed away on January 3, 2018.

Mark grew up in Granite City, and attended SIU-Edwardsville where he met his future wife Kay. They married at the SIUE Center for Spirituality December 18, 1971. Mark continued his studies at the SIU Dental School in Alton, graduating in 1975. He was in private practice in Troy until his retirement in 2015. Dr. Friederich was most passionate about his family. He was married to his best friend and soulmate, and was a loving father and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife Kay Lynn, nee Kimmle, Friederich; children Stephen (Christin) of Troy, Andria (Morgan) Schram of Troy, and David of O'Fallon; his much-loved grandchildren Parker and Libby Friederich, Marek and Michael Schram, and Tristan and Jace Friederich; his parents Leonard and Lucile, nee Konzen, Friederich of Glen Carbon, and his siblings Susan (Randall) Bell, Michael (Jann) Friederich, Jane (Tom) Reis, and Diane (Michael) Tyson.

Memorial donations  are suggested to Siteman Cancer Center, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or American Cancer Society.

Memorial Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, January 8, 2018 at Friedens United Church of Christ, 207 E. Center Street, Troy, Ill.
