Martha Schmidt, age 81, born June 18, 1929 in Burns, Tenn., passed away February 20, 2011 following a brief illness at St. Louis University Hospital.

Martha was employed at the St. Clair County Courthouse, where she has worked for the last 20 years. She attended Fairview Heights Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Schmidt, on February 1, 2010.

Martha is survived by five children Richard (Debbie) Burrow, Mary (Ken) Sharkey, Tom (Lisa) Burrow, Stella (Garry) Rains, and Maria Haider. Also surviving are many loved grandchildren, Bryan (Karin) Burrow, Benjamin (Lisa) Burrow, Brooke Burrow, Destiny Burrow, Erin (Ed Ruiz) Sharkey, Bridget (Ben Elson) Sharkey, Nolan Sharkey, Christopher Burrow, Jason Burrow, Tiffany (Derek) Kirby, Justin (Jennifer) Rains, Matthew Rains, Sarah Haider, Kevin Haider, Kyle Haider; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Kaydence, Alexis, Ethan, Brayden, Chase, Taylor, and Aubrey.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Memorial service will begin at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the funeral home to conclude at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
