Marvin L. Carter, age 88, of St. Louis, Mo., born February 18, 1932 in St. Louis, passed away on Friday morning, October 9, 2020 in O'Fallon, Ill.
Marv served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He then went to work at Western Electric and AT&T Technology, where he spent 33 years. He was the Activities Chairman for the Western Electric Telephone Pioneers. Marv was the Chairman of the West County Singles Club, motorcoach manager for All Ways Travel, drove trains at the St. Louis Zoo, and enjoyed operating Mar-Vel Tours with his wife, Velda. Marv shared his love of music by teaching private lessons on the organ and piano. For many years, he rebuilt pipe organs in the St. Louis area.
Marv was preceded in death by his wife Velda, nee Hollenbaugh, Carter in 1995.
He is survived by his three children Craig & his wife, Carol and their daughter Christine; Scott & his wife Peggy and their children Jamie, Kari, and Kyle; Susan & her husband Michael Meyer, and their sons Travis and Cameron.
Private family service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
