Mary Helen, nee Horn, Bevirt, age 92, of O'Fallon, Ill., born February 27, 1933 in East St. Louis, Ill., to Garrell and Mary Margaret, nee Craven, Horn, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at her home at The Colonnade with her loved ones at her side.

Mary Helen was a proud, 55+ year member of the Order of the Easter Star O'Fallon Chapter 487 and a long-time faithful member of the O'Fallon United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild. She also was active with O'Fallon Senior Citizens, O'Fallon Historical Society, and numerous pinochle clubs. She was a devoted wife to Charles for 70 years and a loving mother who was deeply dedicated to her family and her community. She was an avid reader, a talented seamstress, and she enjoyed crafts, travelling and playing card games and Chinese checkers with her loving family. Family was the heart of her life.

In addition to her parents, Mary Helen was preceded in death by her husband Charles on July 14, 2023, her sister Joan (nee Horn) Cavins, sisters-in-law Elizabeth (nee Bevirt) Clendenin and Alice (nee Bevirt) Hallam; brothers-in-law Dan Clendenin, and William Hallam, niece Becky (nee Hallam) Thornton, nephew Doug Clendenin, and great-niece Christy Hammond.

Surviving are her children Jeffrey (Diana) Bevirt, Garrell (Rudolph Ballentine) Bevirt, Joan (the late Kathy Shadwick) Bevirt; grandchildren Mary Beth (Dan) Hutson, Jennifer (Brad) Mersinger, Neal (Amelia) Bevirt, Dan (Amanda) Chamblin, Chris (Mattie) Chamblin, McKenzie (Lang Suby) Bevirt, Maggie (Joe) Lee, Tim (Anna Dellamano) Burke; great-grandchildren Jackson Lander, Nova and Marlee Suby, Ryan and Emma Mersinger, Max Bevirt, Logan Greene, Mason, Charlotte, and Lucy Chamblin, Briar and Atlas Lee, Evelyn, Samuel and Charles Hutson, Sofia Huda, and Jude Chamblin; brother-in-law Ronald Cavins; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at O'Fallon United Church of Christ.

Funeral Services will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2025 at O'Fallon United Church of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Martha Thierheimer officiating. Burial will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
