Mary Theresa Keeney, nee Elliott, age 86, of O'Fallon, born July 2, 1929 in Monroe City, Mo., died August 21, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center in Lebanon, Ill.
Theresa had previously worked at Stix Baer & Fuller as a comptometer operator. She was among the original St Clair Square mall-walkers. She was within walking distance of O'Fallon's former Hallmark Store and the local thrift shops where she enjoyed window shopping. Although small in stature, she was strong in charisma. Her favorite color was purple and she loved old movies, especially Gone with the Wind.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maynard C. Keeney; parents Russell and Mary, nee Wascho, Elliott; daughter Annette Keeney; brothers James, Eugene, and Robert Elliott, and her grandson Shawn Haines.
Surviving are her children Roberta Emerson, Michael Keeney, Maynard Keeney, Jr., Joseph Keeney, Maria Koesterer, Christina Tang, and Shawn Keeney; sister Connie Garrett, brother John Elliott; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family is very grateful to Cedar Ridge Health Care staff and Southwestern Illinois Visiting Nurse Association for the care and compassion shown to Theresa and her family.
Memorial donations are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
Memorial Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:45 am, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at St. Clare Catholic Church.
Funeral: Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
