Mary Jean Wheatley, nee Munie, age 97, born June 30, 1927 at home in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Jan. 31, 2025 at Heritage at The Colonnade in O'Fallon, Ill.
Mary Jean was one of seven children born to Oscar "Doc" and Matilda, nee Rapp, Munie. She was a lifelong O'Fallon resident and married Raymond M. Wheatley on September 14, 1946; he died October 1985. Mary Jean had retired from the Bank of O'Fallon and had also operated "Off We Go" travel agency in town for years. She was a parishioner at St. Nicholas Catholic Church where she was formerly active in Yesterday's Kids, serving as secretary/treasurer. In years past, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Altar Sodality, and O'Fallon Rotary Club.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Mary Lynn Brandstatter; her brother Bill (Gerry) Munie, sister Vernell Goodman, sister Dolores (Harold "Satch") Keller; sister-in-law Sally Jo Munie, and brothers-in-law Paul Gagne and Jack (Maria) Wheatley.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Pam Wheatley of Maryville; former son-in-law David Brandstatter; grandchildren Bruce Brandstatter and Kevin Wheatley; brother Jim Munie, sisters Pat Gagne, Janet (the late Roger) Ranek and Karen (Bob) Cotter, sister-in-law Norma (the late Lyle) Wheatley, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon, Ill. Yesterday's Kids will conduct a brief prayer service at 10:15 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., at the church, with Fr. George Mauck presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
