Michael Wayne Lafferty, age 57, of O'Fallon, born July 20, 1965 in Aurora, Ill., the younger brother to three sisters, passed away September 26, 2022 at home.

Inspired by his uncle Tom Chapman, Mike enlisted in the Air Force at age 18, beginning a 30-year military career of service to others. He was an aeromedical technician and retired as a Master Sergeant from the Air Force Reserve wing at Scott AFB. Mike loved traveling with Diane, enjoyed walking their dog, Mardi, riding his recumbent bike and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals. He loved being with family and friends and serving as a Door Greeter at St. Clare Church. Mike was a good and selfless man, and will be missed. Even in death, his generous spirit lives on, as he chose to donate his body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne C. and Patricia, nee Chapman, Lafferty.

Surviving are the love of his life Diane M. Kimble; his sisters Julia (Kevin) Lostroh of Lincoln, Neb., Joan (Merlin) Lahm of Columbus, Neb., and Jolene (Jerry) Brockman of Hastings, Minn.; seven nieces, four nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 – 3 pm, Friday, October 7, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill., followed by a Memorial Service to begin at 3 pm, with Rev. Jim Deiters officiating.  Military honors will be rendered.

He is a child of God. May he rest in peace.
