Michael P. Quirk, age 62, of Swansea, passed away Friday morning, February 19, 2021.
Mike grew up in East St. Louis and graduated from Assumption High School. He played college football at Knox College, Galesburg, IL, where his team is a proud member of the Knox College Football Hall of Fame. Mike worked as a sales manager at Coca-Cola and also in the food distribution sector. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Rams, holding season tickets and having strong traditions of tailgating and enjoying Rams football. Mike was a sports enthusiast. He spent many years coaching youth sports – first for Little Knights football in Belleville and later for his own kids' sporting teams. In his free time, he also refereed high school lacrosse.
He was a loving husband and devoted father to Bryan, Kevin and Kelly. Mike was a parishioner at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Belleville, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4239. He will be remembered as a caring, loving man who always had a smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul J. Quirk, and father-in-law William J. Musser
Surviving are his wife Kathleen, nee Musser, Quirk, of Swansea; his three children Bryan (Amanda) Quirk & their son Levi of Smithton; Kevin (fiancé Laura Mueth) Quirk of O'Fallon; and Kelly Quirk of Columbia, MO; his mother Frances Quirk; sisters Patti (Jerry) Vickery, Mary (Bob) Wojcik, and brother Tom (Angie) Quirk; and mother-in-law Pat Musser. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are appreciated to The Mike Quirk Benefit Fund or to CADASIL Research Fund at the University of Michigan (Checks payable to University of Michigan). Online condolences may be shared with the family and a photo tribute may be viewed at www.wfh-ofallon.com .
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2021 at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 1201 Lebanon Avenue, Belleville. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 – 10:00 am, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the church.
Funeral: A memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the church, with Msgr. David M. Darin presiding. In keeping with Mike's generous spirit, he has donated his body to St. Louis University to further research and raise awareness of CADASIL.
