Mildred M. Blais, age 95, of Holland Patent, N.Y., formerly of O'Fallon, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2014 in New York.
She was born on May 17, 1919 in Sumner, Wisc., a daughter of Otto and Celia Leighton Alwin. After leaving Wisconsin, Mildred was united in marriage to Clinton A. Blais in Maple Lake, Minn. Together they had many moves around the country before finally settling in Washington state and later O'Fallon. Her husband, Clinton, was a business owner in O'Fallon and they attended the former St. Albert's Catholic Church in Fairview Heights.
After Clinton's death in 1999, Mildred moved to Holland Patent, N.Y. to be closer to her daughter Geraldine.
Surviving are her loving children Geraldine and David Haynes, of Holland Patent, N.Y., Janet and Paul Vance, of Wash., Brian Blais, of Wash., her sister Grace Smith; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clinton; her son Ronald Blais; two brothers Harry and Fred; five sisters Belle, Alice, Gladys, Clara and Bertha.
Funeral: Graveside Services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill, with Rev. Jim Thomas officiating.
