Obituary

Joseph Montagu "Monty" RoosEvans, age 90, born October 26, 1921 in London, England, passed away July 15, 2012, in St. Louis, Mo.

Monty was a World War II veteran of the US Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, serving aboard the Lake Freeland, John D. Whidden and John Chester Kendall ships, twice surviving torpedo blasts and bombing. Monty was a member of Operating Engineers Local 520, where he developed many friendships over the years. He was a member of Ainad Temple, Scottish Rite, and A.F. & A.M. Gothic Lodge 852, Fairview Heights.

Monty married Aida Alfonzo on August 10, 1946, in Havana, Cuba. Those were many happy days, staying the course through ups and downs.

Surviving are his wife, Aida RoosEvans; his daughter, Melinda (Gerald) Parker, who has faithfully stayed at her mother's side; his son Joe (Lori) RoosEvans, of whom is said there is no better dad; his granddaughter Felicia Parker, who shared with him lovely memories, and grandson Aiden RoosEvans, who made him very happy; and his brother James Roosevans of Belford, England.

Memorial donations may be made to the Gothic Lodge 852 or to Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Funeral: Graveside Service will be 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, with military honors.
