Obituary

Myrtle Regina Mehochko, nee Rolfingsmeier, age 89, of O'Fallon, born February 1, 1922 in Breese, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, February 5, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family, under the care of Passages Hospice.

Myrtle was one of nine children born to Henry J. and Helena, nee Weber, Rolfingsmeier. She married Edward A. Mehochko on January 3, 1945 at St. Roch's Church in St. Louis, Mo. They relocated to O'Fallon in 1956 and together they owned and operated the Tornado Inn from 1966 until their retirement in 1987. She was a parishioner at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. Myrtle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be remembered as a wonderful and vivid storyteller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ed, brothers Marcellus, Aloys, Jerome and infant Stanley; sisters Martha Mete, Amelia Hilbus, and Rosalie Butin.

She is survived by her sons Richard Alan (Kay) Mehochko of Orlando, Fla., Bradley Wayne Mehochko of O'Fallon, daughter Cheryl Kay (Chuck) White of O'Fallon; her six grandchildren, Daniel (Amy) Mehochko of Fredericksburg, Va., Kimberly (Todd) Brown of St. Albans, Vt., Guy (Katie) Mehochko of O'Fallon, Gregory Mehochko of O'Fallon, Stephanie (Rob) Pickerill of Mt. Olive, Ill., and Sandra White of O'Fallon.

Also surviving are her brother Raymond Rolfingsmeier of Breese; eight great grandchildren: Isabelle, Jackson, Seraphine, and William Mehochko, Greyson Brown, Lorali Mehochko, Madison Spencer and Joshua McNairy; and former daughter-in-law, Nancy Mehochko.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep and loving appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement, especially to the wonderful folks at Passages Hospice.

Memorial donations are suggested to Passages Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 West Washington St., O'Fallon; and from 10:00 – 10:45 am, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 1411 Cross St., Shiloh.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Msgr. William McGhee presiding. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights. A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 137, O'Fallon.
