Obituary

Omer L. Green, age 90, of O'Fallon, born October 22, 1922 in Mount Pulaski, Illinois, died Friday, March 29, 2013.

Mr. Green was a World War II Navy veteran, and served aboard the USS Boyle. He attended Denver University where he met his bride, Ruth Jean Coad. He graduated with an accounting degree and worked for the Dept. of Defense for many years and was owner of Green Bookkeeping & Tax Services in O'Fallon until he retired in 1994. Omer was a faithful member of St. Clare Catholic Church, fourth degree Knight with O'Fallon Knights of Columbus Council 4239, was an avid golfer and enjoyed international travel with his wife. Omer was genuinely friendly, and was very proud of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are his wife Ruth Jean Green, whom he married August 26, 1950, in Denver, Colorado; eight children Mary Su (Steve) Gruenke of Belleville, Steven (Leslie) Green of Michigan, Shirley (Lawrence) Seipp of O'Fallon, Phillip (Ann Marie) Green of Michigan, Valarie (the late Frank) Borow of Texas, Pamela (Pat) Trausch of Texas, Diana (Vic) Svec of Belleville, and Jeffrey Green of O'Fallon; his sister Virginia Allison of Tennessee; 33 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorials be made to St. Clare Catholic Church Building Fund.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 1411 Cross St., Shiloh, Ill.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the church, with Rev. James Deiters, presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Illinois.
