Onita M. Obernuefemann, age 83, of O'Fallon, Illinois passed away Monday, May 22, 2006, at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea. She was born December 15, 1922 in Lebanon, Illinois, the only child of Edward and Carrie (nee Meyer) Druessel. On May 7, 1946, she married Bernard A. Obernuefemann.
Onita was a long-time parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church, a member of St. Clare Altar Sodality and St Clare's School Mothers Club. Along with her husband and family, she worked for many years on the family farm near O'Fallon. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bernard A. Obernuefemann; her son, Jerry (Doris) Obernuefemann of O'Fallon; daughters, Jeanette (Herb) Parker of Fairview Heights, Carolyn (Michael) Hanson, of Galesburg, IL, and Ida (Michael) Schuchart of Fairview Heights, IL; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 and 9:00 – 9:45 am, Thursday, May 25, 2006 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: A Funeral Procession will leave from Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, at 9:45 am, Thursday, May 25, 2006 for a 10:00 Mass of Christian Burial at St Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, with Father Jim Deiters, officiating.
Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh.
Memorial Donations may be made to American Heart Association or Susan G. Koeman Breast Cancer Foundation and will be accepted at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
