Opal Murdock Lowry, age 96, died September 7, 2007 at the Rosewood Nursing Home in St. Louis County, Mo. The daughter of John Robert Murdock and Lucy Alice Boyd, she was born April 24, 1911 on a farm in Sullivan County, near Bairdston, Mo. On November 29, 1934 she married Carl J. Lowry, who preceded her in death. In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers and one son Phillip Allan.
Mrs. Lowry lived in O'Fallon, Ill. since 1950 until she moved to Autumn View Assisted Living in St. Louis County in 2002. She was formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon, where she had been active in a number of positions in the church, including serving as the District Treasurer for the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the O'Fallon Woman's Club, serving as President in 1982; she also served on the O'Fallon Library Board for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice (Jim) Crippen of Ballwin, Mo. and Katherine (Larry) Nix of Middleton, Wisc., two sons, Michael (Lindsay) Lowry of Hopewell, N.J. and Stephen (Linda) Lowry of St. Louis County, Mo., ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007, Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral Service: Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2007 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, with Reverend Dan Wilson officiating.
Burial will be alongside her husband at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
