Oscar Alexander Ambry, age 91, of Shiloh, born February 22, 1921 in O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Monday morning, December 17, 2012, at Cedar Ridge Healthcare in Lebanon, Ill.
Mr. Ambry was an Army veteran, having served in the Rhineland Campaign during World War II in 807th TC Base Depot Company as a heavy equipment specialist. He was an avid bowler, and worked as an operating engineer and was a member of Local 520.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes "Billie," nee Vallow, Ambry, whom he married November 8, 1941, and died July 20, 2010; his parents Eugene and Margaret, nee Rasp, Ambry; his daughter Sue Lynn Mitchell and sister Eileen Klucker.
He is survived by two sons, David (Doris) Ambry of Shiloh, and Dennis (Cathy) Ambry of St. Peters, Mo. Also surviving are grandchildren Shannon (Tim) Barton, Denise (Matthew) Biekert, Michael (Cindy) Ambry, Jay (Kathy) Ambry, Danielle Ambry, Steve (Kate) Holley; great-grandchildren Justin Ambry, Andrew Biekert, Adam Biekert, Tanner Ambry, Zeke Bielby, Alex Ambry, Jessica Barton, Shelby Ambry, Josh Holley, Caitlin Holley, and Anna Holley; and his sister Lorraine "Girlie" Wright.
Memorials in honor of Mr. Ambry may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or the charity of one's choice.
Visitation: Friends may call from 9:00 – 11:00 am, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon.
Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the funeral home, with Msgr. James E. Margason officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Shiloh Valley Township Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
