Obituary

Oscar H. Brandmeyer, age 84, of O'Fallon, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 6, 2007. Oscar was born February 21, 1923 in Mascoutah, Illinois, to Oscar J. and Helen (nee Meyer) Brandmeyer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. Mr. Brandmeyer was retired from Civil Service as a Cook. He served on the O'Fallon Fire Department, retiring in 1983. He was an active member of the Senior Citizens Club of O'Fallon and attended St. John's United Church of Christ in Summerfield. He was a life member of VFW Post 1739. He remained active following retirement, working various jobs, and enjoying his hobbies of woodworking, upholstery, and traveling with his wife.


He is survived by his wife, Elsie (nee Eberhardt) Brandmeyer of O'Fallon, whom he married March 26, 1949 in Belleville; son Ed (Diana) Brandmeyer of O'Fallon; daughter Joyce (Gary) Kniepkamp of St. Jacob, Ill.; grandchildren, Melissa (Tim) Nehrt & their daughter Claire of St. Louis, Ben (Sara) Lesire of O'Fallon, Andy Brandmeyer of St. Louis, Kristen Kniepkamp of St. Jacob, and Josh Lesire of O'Fallon. Also surviving are his brother, Gustave (Rita) Brandmeyer of Indianapolis, Ind; sisters Bertha Tuerck of Braintree, Mass; Olinda Jarmer of Belleville, Ill; brother-in-law, Roger Eberhardt of O'Fallon, sister-in-law, Shirley Reid of O'Fallon, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Mr. Brandmeyer was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law George Tuerck, and daughter-in-law, Debbi Brandmeyer.

Memorial Donations are requested to the charity of one's choice.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 8, 2007. Senior Citizens Club will conduct a walk-through at 6:30 p.m. O'Fallon Fire Department will conduct a walk-through at 7:15 p.m.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Thursday, August 9, 2007, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Gary Kniepkamp of St. John's UCC, Summerfield, officiating.

Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville.
