Obituary

Patricia Ann Weast, nee Poole, age 84, currently of Shiloh, Ill., formerly of Midwest City, Okla, passed away peacefully, holding the hand of her husband, as the sun rose, on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025.

Patricia spent her childhood in the South-Central Oklahoma towns of Allen, Atwood, Ada, Holdenville, and Stonewall. Her parents farmed near Stonewall, where she learned the value of hard work and faithful, honest living, along with the experiences gained from 7 years in the 4-H Club. She was a graduate of Stonewall High School Class of 1959. After high school, Patricia attended East Central University in Ada and earned her B.S. in Education, and teaching certificate. While enrolled in a college music class, she met classmate Forest Weast, a Stratford, Okla. alum. They were married May 30, 1962 at the Boswell Chapel on the ECU campus. Her true vocation in life was as a dedicated, loving, supportive, and piano-playing wife of a Pastor. Early in their marriage, they served on the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. In 1975, they returned to their roots in Oklahoma, serving in churches and congregations across the state. While fulfilling her role as a Pastor's wife, she maintained her own respected career as an educator, teaching High School Business classes, to include the lost arts of shorthand, business machines, and typing. Some of her most enjoyable years were spent at Choctaw High School 1981 – 1991.

Patricia was a wonderful baker, and made and shared her own jellies, fruit preserves, and pickles. She could play a mean hand of High-Nine, Mexican Train dominoes, Skip-Bo, and showed no mercy with the little grandkids at Hi-Ho Cherry-O. She was a remarkable homemaker and hostess, eager to invite others to her home for Sunday dinner or a dish of Braum's ice cream and homemade cherry pie.

In November 2023, Patricia was diagnosed with cancer. Although this was a scary time, she faced the challenge with courage and grace. Patricia and Forest moved to Shiloh, Illinois in 2024 to be near their daughter and son-in-law. Although she immensely enjoyed her time in Shiloh, Ill., and loved her new friends from church, she longed for her friends, family, and the comforts she had left back home in Oklahoma.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents James "J.C." and Viva (nee Greene) Poole, infant daughter Janet Kathleen Weast; son Kevin Darrel Weast, brother James Poole, infant twin sisters Barbara Faye and Beulah Mae Poole; and sister-in-law Dagmar Poole.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Rev. Forest L. Weast of Shiloh, Ill., formerly of Midwest City, Okla.; daughter Kimberly Sabella and her husband James (Lt. Col., USAF, retired) of O'Fallon, Ill.; daughter-in-law Stephanie Weast-Jordan and her husband Daniel of Cleveland, Miss.; her much-loved grandchildren Anthony (Megan) Sabella, Hannah (Dave) Gruenewald, Rachel (Jake Breit) Sabella, Sayre (Nathan) Barron, Bryer (Mallory) Weast, and Schuler Weast; and her sweet great-grandson Bo. Also surviving are her brother Maurice Dale Poole, sister-in-law Neva Poole; and several nieces and nephews.
