IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick Joseph
Menzies
October 6, 1976 – June 10, 2024
Patrick Joseph Menzies, age 47, born October 6, 1976 in India, beloved son of Percy and Judy Menzies, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on June 10, 2024.
Patrick was born severally handicapped and was given only a few months to live. His parents, Percy and Judy, were determined to seek the best medical treatment he could get and decided to emigrate to the US in 1977.
Although there was no cure for his condition, he inspired his parents and family members in many ways. Several family members, including Judy pursued careers in medicine or nursing. His desire to live was remarkable and inspiring. In his infirmity, he inspired his parents into adopting three children from India. The love and affection shown to him by his siblings was heart-rending.
Patrick battled many infections and other physical ailments, only to rebound and astonish his medical and nursing staff. The 47-year battle came to a peaceful end when angels carried him to heaven as his parents and caregivers bid him a final goodbye. His final act of mercy was donating his body for research in the hope of finding a cure for the malady.
Memorial donations are suggested to causes important to Patrick's family, specifically St. Vincent de Paul Society or St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church Building Fund.
He was preceded in death by his sister Annamarie Menzies who passed away in 1999; and his grandparents.
In addition to his parents Percy and Judy, Patrick is also survived by his siblings Suneal (Claire, nee Cavano) Menzies, Priya (John) Fluitt, and Anita (Eric) Weston; his nieces and nephews Amelia, William, Percy, Harper, and Patrick; loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted caregivers who have given tirelessly of themselves to provide Patrick with a loving and safe environment.
