Obituary

Regina M. Koch, nee Hemmer, age 89, of O'Fallon, IL, born May 23, 1917 in O'Fallon, IL, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Covenant Care of O'Fallon. Regina grew up in Taylorville, Illinois, and graduated from Taylorville Township High School in 1934.

Regina was an excellent stenographer and worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Works and Buildings, Division of Highways, (now IDOT), for the former State of Illinois Institute of Juvenile Research, as a secretary at Estelle Kampmeyer School in O'Fallon, and for many years at the State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in East St. Louis, retiring in 1982. She was a member of St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, and a former member of the St. Clare Altar Sodality. Regina was a loving wife and mother, had a wonderful sense of humor, was proud of her family, and of being three-fourths Irish.

She married William H. Koch in Springfield, Illinois, on April 16, 1938. He died September 5, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Edward R. and Mary Frances O'Neill Hemmer, her brother Robert J. Schumacher and his wife, Dorothy, her brother Thomas L. (Mike) Hemmer, brothers in law Charles Kloustermeyer and Felton Koch, and sister in law Mary Ann Klutho Hemmer.

She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Albert) Kimmle, of O'Fallon; her son William J. (Jeanne nee Booth) Koch of Fairview Heights, one grandchild Cynthia Kimmle of O'Fallon, brother Gene (Melva) Hemmer of Sun City, AZ; sisters Geraldine Kloustermeyer and Peggy Berens of O'Fallon, and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Hemmer of Annandale, NJ; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to St Clare Building Fund, or in the form of Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W Washington St., O'Fallon.

Funeral Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at St Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon.

Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Illinois
