Obituary

Regine "Jean" M. Pier, nee Mersinger, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Countryside Manor, Aviston, Ill., surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lebanon, Ill. on March 12, 1927, Jean supported her community in a variety of ways. She served as secretary of the library board for 20 years, was a docent at the Lebanon Visitors Center, and volunteered her musical talent to a multitude of programs for various local organizations. She welcomed all into her home, always extending her table of plenty.

She studied music and organ at McKendree College and Washington University. An accomplished pianist in all styles of music, Jean would be called on to play at every type of gathering. She also liked teaching piano to beginners. Jean was a life¬long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and served as organist there for over 60 years. Later in her life, she enjoyed meeting and getting to know others by doing local and regional field research for the US Census Bureau and several national companies.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane E. Pier.

Surviving are her 6 children: Michael, (Rhonda Robinson) of San Clemente, Calif.; John (Diana) of Round Rock, Tex.; Mary (Roger) Keys of DeKalb, Ill.; Ann (Mark Wakeford) of Lebanon, Ill., James (Lisa) of Lebanon, Ill. and Jane (Joe) Bristow of Geneva, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, Nathan, Ben, Marsha, Rebecca, Kathryn, Matthew, Meghan, Jeremy, Sybil, Daniel, Christa, Ryan, Heather, Sarah, Anna and Lizzie, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Masses or memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lebanon, Ill., the Lebanon Community Library, Lebanon, Ill. or donor's choice.

Visitation: All are invited to celebrate her life by calling from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon, Ill., and after 9:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church.

Funeral: Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m, Saturday, July 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lebanon.
