Obituary

Richard Douglas Williams, age 76, of O'Fallon, born December 28, 1946 in Westmoreland County, Penn., passed away Friday morning, March 31, 2023 at his home.

Richard was raised in New Kensington, Penn., and although he joined the Air Force and moved away as a young man, he always remained faithful to his roots. He was a diehard fan of the Steelers & Pirates and an avid collector of Pittsburgh sports memorabilia. During his Vietnam years, he had a faithful pen pal, Linda Joyce Pfahlert, whom he later married on April 19, 1972 in Albuquerque, N.M. Richard served over 20 years in the AF Security Forces and retired from Scott AFB in 1986 as a Master Seargeant. After his military retirement, he continued to work in security as a Loss Prevention manager in the St. Louis area until he retired again in 2012.

Richard and Linda raised their sons Gary and Jon in O'Fallon where he was active in their lives as a coach and dedicated father. He continued his dedication to family as a constant presence and strong role model in the lives of his seven grandchildren. Richard was an avid bowler and he coached bowling in O'Fallon schools from 2012-19 and was part of the first ever OTHS State Championship Girls' Bowling team in 2019. He enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and was a member at Blessed Savior Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack Williams, his mother and step-father Maxine and Laurin Davis; his infant daughter Michelle; sister Dixie (Bob) Molnar; and sister-in-law June Shaver.

Surviving are his beloved wife Linda Williams; sons Gary (Melanie) Williams, Jon (Kim) Williams; grandchildren Mark Hoerner, Hayleigh Williams, Ethan Hoerner, Haydin Williams, Hannah Williams, Jenna Hoerner, and Hadley Williams; siblings Debbie (Bob) Baker, Larry (Terri) Davis, John (Janice) Davis, Perry (Lynda) Davis, Bruce (Cindy) Davis; siblings-in-law Carolyn (Ai) Wood, Larry Shaver, and Jim (Cindy) Pfahlert, and many nieces and nephews.
