Rita Darlene Ferreri, nee Scheibel, age 91, of O'Fallon, born November 10, 1926 in Belleville, Ill., passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, March 17, 2018 at Cedar Ridge Healthcare & Rehab, Lebanon, Ill.
Rita grew up in Belleville, had attended St. Luke's Catholic School, and graduated from Academy of Notre Dame in 1944. Rita was a longtime, faithful parishioner at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, a member of the St. Clare Altar Sodality, past member of O'Fallon Senior Citizens and Bi-County Caring & Professional Women. Rita had worked for many years at Wolfersberger Funeral Home and Lake View Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Vincent M. Ferreri, who passed away September 2, 1990; her parents Roy and Gladys, nee Villemain, Scheibel; sisters Doris (Patrick) Wade, Verla Mae (William) Hiller, and sister-in-law Georgette Scheibel.
Surviving are her five children Angela (Joseph) Yotko, of Lavelle, Penn., Mark (Pamela) Ferreri of Boulder Creek, Calif., Carla (Steve) Schultheis of Waterloo, Ill., James Ferreri of Orlando, Fla., and Lynn (Jess) Yerger of Allentown, Penn.; grandchildren Christine (Mark) Schulstad, Michael (Hilary) Yotko, Kyle Seipp, Tyler Wales, PRAR Kathryn Wales (US Navy), and Colan Seipp; and three great-grandchildren Logan Schulstad, and Brenden and Ryan Yotko. Also surviving are her sister Lois (Wesley) Heintz of Belleville, and brother Neil Scheibel of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Belleville.
Memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home. Special thanks to Cedarhurst of Shiloh and to Cedar Ridge of Lebanon for the care and comfort provided to Rita.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, and from 10:00 am – 10:45 am, Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 1411 Cross Street, Shiloh.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, March 26, 2018 at the church, with Rev. James Deiters presiding. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
