Obituary

Robert O. Britt, age 91, of O'Fallon, Ill., born October 6, 1924 in Brunswick, Mo, died peacefully in his sleep Sunday night, June 26, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Bob attended the University of Missouri, earning his degree in Agricultural Chemistry. He retired after a 40-year career as Operations Manager for Vigoro Industries, Fairview Heights, Illinois. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, O'Fallon, and was an avid golfer.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II, where he was a member of the 57th Bomb Wing. As a First Lieutenant, he was a B-25 pilot with over 900 flying hours and flew 37 missions in Italy and Germany, earning the Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oswald D. Britt and Nettie, nee Woodard, Britt; a brother Paul Britt, sister June Cooley, and son Robert Alan Britt.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sandra, nee Fichter, Britt; daughter Anne (Jim) Mansk of Schaumburg, Ill., daughter-in-law Denise Ruben Britt of Greenwood, Ind., grandchildren Kati Britt of Greenwood, Ind., Kyle Mansk of Denver, Colo., Kara (Matthew) Fenton of Chicago, Ill., and a sister Janice Carson (Eldon) Beckman of Wellington, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews, and their families.

He is to be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
