Robert L. Glazebrook, 86, of Shiloh, Ill., passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026. He was born on April 25, 1940, to Velma and John Glazebrook.
Bob grew up in Signal Hill in Belleville and graduated from Belleville Township High School - Class of 1958. During high school, he was a golfer and an All-State wrestler. Known affectionately by classmates as “Donut", Bob was elected senior class president, though he happily left most reunion planning duties to the “Socs".
On January 22, 1966, Bob married the love of his life, Marilyn (née Bugger), and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Bob ran a small gas station after high school and would work shift work at Granite City Steel in the early 1970s and then at Peabody Coal mine in Freeburg until 1990. He would retire in 2004 from Interior Construction Services on The Hill in St. Louis.
Bob and Marilyn loved traveling together and visited places including Hawaii, Canada, England, France, and recently to New York City. Their favorite tradition was taking annual family trips to Destin, Fla., creating memories with their children and grandchildren. Retirement also gave Bob and Marilyn the opportunity to support the dreams, activities, and accomplishments of their children and eight grandchildren.
Golf was one of Bob’s greatest passions. He especially loved golfing with his brother Larry, his two sons, two sons-in-law, and many lifelong friends at Tamarack Country Club. If you knew Bob Glazebrook, he was proud to call you his friend. But above all else, Bob’s greatest joy and source of pride was his family. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren and cherished every moment spent with them; he adored them and would talk about them every chance he had.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and John Glazebrook; his sisters, Barbara and Susan; brothers-in-law Jerry Eads, Al Bennett, and Dick Snellenberger; and sister-in-law Donna Glazebrook.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marilyn; his four children, Robert (Janet) Glazebrook of Eureka, Mo.; Rebecca (Alan) Braverman of Clayton, Mo.; Kim (Kevin) Schwartz of Columbia, Ill.; and Steve Glazebrook of Shiloh, Ill.; and his eight grandchildren, Emily and Jenny Braverman, Grant Glazebrook, Caitlyn and Hope Schwartz, Faith and Heath Glazebrook, and Brooke (Hunter) Yeargan; one great-grandson, Hudson Lee Yeargan; his brothers, Larry and John and his two sisters JoAnn (née Glazebrook) Snellenberger and Ellen Mae (née Glazebrook) Whiteley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to BJC Hospice online at BJC Hospice or during the services.
