Obituary

Robert William Haight, age 87, formerly of Vallejo, Calif., born July 9, 1937 in Galesburg, Ill. to Alfred Cowan and Vivian, nee Nelson, Haight, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024 at home in O'Fallon, Ill.

At the age of 9, Bob moved with his family to Vallejo, Calif., where he attended school and graduated from Vallejo Sr. High School in 1957. Following High School, he enlisted and served in the Naval Reserves for 8 years. Bob worked as Union Butcher in California for over 30 years. He was a devoted family man and Scout Master who loved to camp and fish at the Milsap Bar Campground at the Feather River in Northern California. In retirement he became an avid RV traveler and served in the Knights of Columbus. Bob and his wife Colleen moved to O'Fallon in 2021 to be closer to family. They soon discovered St. Nicholas parish and felt right at home.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles E. Haight.

Surviving are his wife Colleen, nee White, Haight, whom he married September 5, 1959 (65Yrs!); his children Robert J. (Pua) Haight of Kalona, Iowa, Daniel P. (Victoria) Haight of O'Fallon, Ill., and Aimee Marie Ransford of O'Fallon, Ill.; grandchildren Joshua (McKinzie) Haight of Colorado Springs, Celena J. Haight of N.C., Daniel Fielding of O'Fallon, and Jessica L. (Cody) Gin of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; and four great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – Noon, Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O'Fallon, Ill.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Noon, Tuesday, at the church, with Rev. Jim Buerster presiding. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
