Robert Henry Haukapp, age 90, of O'Fallon, Illinois, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2006 at his home, with his devoted family by his side. Robert was born to Conrad and Whilhelmina (nee Kreke) Haukapp on June 1, 1916 in Breese Illinois. He married Rita Siegel on February 27, 1946 in Lebanon, Illinois. Mr. Haukapp was a retired teamster from O'Fallon Lumber. He was a member of St Clare Catholic Church, and O'Fallon Sportsman's Club, member and Past Commander of both The American Legion Fischer-Sollis Post 137 of O'Fallon and the St Clair County American Legion. Robert was a US Army veteran of WWII, where he served with the Mediterranean and European Expeditionary Forces.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mrs. Rita Haukapp, of O'Fallon; four children, Wayne (Marilyn) Haukapp of O'Fallon, Diane (Richard) Williams of Trenton, Russell (Marilyn) Haukapp of St. Jacob, and Darlene (Michael) Mayden of O'Fallon; 13 grandchildren: Michael, Cynthia, Chris, Bob, Paul, Angie, Bill, Diane, Carolyn, Lori, Leanne, Chad, and Amie, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Haukapp was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Donna, in 1964; brothers, Henry, George, John, and Eugene, and sister Clara Smith.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, October 23, 2006 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Funeral Procession will depart from Wolfersberger Funeral Home at 9:45 am for a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial, Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at St Clare Catholic Church, with Monsignor William Hitpas presiding.
Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, with military honors.
Memorial Donations are requested to either American Cancer Society, Heartland Hopsice, or in the form of Masses and will be accepted at the funeral home.
