Ronald Paul George, age 66, of Shiloh, born May 30, 1947 in Belleville, Ill., passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his home.
Ron grew up in O'Fallon, graduated from OTHS Class of '64, earned his BA from SIUE, and worked in corporate accounting in the St. Louis area. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam era.
Ron was an active 5K, 10K and marathon runner before his illness. He was past president of Highland Animal Shelter, and enjoyed traveling and playing poker. He was a lifelong Cardinal fan, a devoted husband, and proud father and grandfather. He was a vital contributor to the pheresis-donor program at Barnes Hospital.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Paul R. George, and his father-in-law James D. Pfeifer.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Barbara George, whom he married September 8, 1973, his sons Tom George of Collinsville and Michael (Melissa) George of Troy; his much-loved granddaughters Grace, Ella, and Ruby; his mother Mona George of O'Fallon; sister Nancy (Wallace) Ogle of Colorado Springs, Colo., and his mother-in-law Nina Pfeifer of O'Fallon.
In lieu of flowers or other gifts, memorial donations are strongly encouraged to Highland Animal Shelter or as an act to honor Ron's life, consider making an appointment for platelet donation (pheresis) at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the funeral home.
Private burial will be at O'Fallon City Cemetery.
