Obituary

Roy J. Rasp, 88, of Shiloh, Ill. passed away Saturday morning, July 21, 2007 at his home. Born April 26, 1919 to Albert and Mary (nee Hildebrande) Rasp in Shiloh, Ill., Roy served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 earning a Bronze Star during World War II. He farmed for most of his life in the Shiloh Valley and married Helen Herbstreith in 1948. He was a member of the St. Clair County Farm Bureau and Corpus Christi Church.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife Helen on January 7, 1997, parents, son Daniel Rasp, sister Edna Wisnasky, and brother-in-law Vernon Gain.

He is survived by his children Mary (Bob) Phillips of Sugar Land, Texas, Tom (Janet) Rasp of Shiloh, Betty Jo (Bob) Hughes of Belleville, and Ronald (Theresa) Rasp of O'Fallon; sister Meta Gain of Belleville, brother Lee (Lucille) Rasp of O'Fallon; grandchildren, Matt & Justin Phillips, Nick and Valerie Rasp, Tracy Reed, Matt & Clara Obernuefemann, one great-grandchild Connor Phillips, and many cousins.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, July 23, 2007 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral Service: Procession will depart the funeral home 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2007 for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. James Margason presiding. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemtery, Shiloh, Ill., with Graveside military honors.
