Ruth Ida King, nee Scharf, age 96, of Shiloh, born October 19, 1925 in Belleville, Ill., passed away Thursday evening, April 21, 2022 at her home.

Ruth enjoyed quilting with her friends at O'Fallon Senior Citizens group and St. Clare Church, and was a member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a gifted embroiderer, an avid Cardinals fan, and enjoyed watching TV gameshows, bowling, and square-dancing with her late husband Les. She had retired from her civil service job as a supervisor of accounts & reports.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lester C. King, whom she married September 18, 1976 and died in 2016; his son Kevin King who died in 2021; her siblings Marie Chide, Howard Scharf, and Shirley Jokisch.

Surviving are her sister Marcella Mayer of Belleville; sister-in-law Margaret Scharf of Millstadt; and her many other family members to include Katherine (the late Kevin) King and family Becky (Kevin) Murray and Reese, Kailey and Addison; Teri (Robert) Williard and Aiden; Dan (Ashley) King and Connor and Cayson; Leslie Goldberg-King and family Lindsay, Carlos, Paula, and Selena; Keith (Deborah) King and family Ryan (Eve) and Trevor (Gabriella) and Alena; goddaughter niece Rhonda (Paul) Kimpel and family Shanon (Scott) Osick and Katie and Alex; Bridget (Karl) Hide and Brandon; William (Cara) Kimpel and Shane and Ethan; Laura Elizabeth (Ronnie) Dinsmore; and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.
