Shirley Lee Roskowski, nee Hedgecock, 86, of O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born to the late Preston and Laura (nee Hocutt) Hedgecock on April 21, 1935, in Hoopeston, Ill. Shirley married Walter Roskowski on August 10, 1952, in Hoopeston, Ill. Shirley attended Hoopeston High School. She was a stay-at-home mother for 23 years while she moved around the country with her husband in the U.S. Air Force. She joined the workforce managing the Salvation Army for 20 years until her retirement. Shirley loved her family and especially adored her 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son, Walter A. Roskowski; grandson, John W. Kimball; parents, Preston and Laura, nee Hocutt, Hedgecock; three sisters and one brother, Maxine Parsley, Juanita Williams, Patricia Short, and Leroy Hedgecock; and niece, Connie Blanck.

Surviving are her husband of 69 years, Walter Roskowski of O'Fallon, Ill.; children, Toni (John) Kimball of Collinsville, Ill.; Patricia Roskowski of Collinsville, Ill.; Steven (Helen) Roskowski of O'Fallon, Ill.; William (Tammy) Roskowski of Ashley, Ill.; Bruce (Tina) Roskowski of O'Fallon, Ill.; Deborah (Kevin) Potter of Millersburg, Penn.; grandchildren, Keri, Shawn, Jesse, Walter, Christina, Kaylee, Kyle, Daniel, Joshua, Matthew and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Haley, Alexis, Hunter, Garret, Taylor, Mason, Carter, Jackie, Mackenzie, Kadence, Faith, Caylynn, Lela and Jamison; great-great-grandchild, Laina.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2021, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home in O'Fallon, Ill. No funeral service will be held at this time. The family asks that you honor Shirley's life by spending time with those you love.

A donation may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cancer Research Institute .
