Sidney Nickerson was born on July 7, 1926 in Scooba, Mississippi, to the union of Sidney and Bettie Rencher.

After moving to East St. Louis, Illinois as a young woman, Sidney married Leonard "Nick" Nickerson. They were married until his death on April 2, 1975.

She was a devoted wife who enjoyed her home, good music, and her beloved dogs. Sidney was a hard-working, strong woman who worked at Lane Bryant in St. Louis where she retired. She later worked for several years as a Dispatcher for the Centreville, Illinois Police Department.

Years later, Sidney met her longtime partner, Harold Culp. They were together for seventeen years until his passing in March 5, 2017.

Sidney attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Centreville, Illinois where she was a faithful member. She later attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Shiloh, Illinois.

On December 12, 2018, Sidney went to be with The Lord. She leaves to cherish her memories, a host of relatives and friends.

Private services were held, with burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
