Obituary
Stephen Maurice Shaffer, age 49, of Campbell Hill, Ill., formerly of O'Fallon, born November 18, 1966 in Belleville, Ill., died July 16, 2016 as a result of an auto accident.
Stephen grew up in O'Fallon. He worked in construction as a hod carrier and belonged to O'Fallon Laborers Union 670. Stephen was a hard worker and would give the shirt off his back. He loved being outdoors, enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and cooking on the weekends.
Stephen lived life to the fullest - exactly how he wanted.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carol Fohne, Raleigh and Elizabeth Shaffer, and great-grandmother Joyce Gaffner.
Surviving are his daughter Suzanne Marie (fiancè Steve Pohlman) Shaffer of Godfrey; mother Jo Ann, nee, Fohne, Shaffer of Lebanon; father William Shaffer of O'Fallon; sister Barbara (John Albers) Shaffer of Lebanon; brother Joseph Shaffer of O'Fallon; nephew Benjamin Shaffer of Lebanon; his grandfather Maurice Fohne of O'Fallon; and his special friend Toy McClaine of Campbell Hill, Ill.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family requests memorial donations to Shriner's Hospital and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Memorial Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
No formal funeral services are planned.
