Obituary

Tanya Lee Roos, beloved mother of Kelsie and Emma, passed calmly into pain-free eternity with Jesus Christ at 9:35 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois, from complications of diabetes.

Tanya was born November 23, 1972 in Oxford, Ohio, to Ford William Rowland and Patricia Ellen, nee Distler, Rowland. She grew up in a military family, relocating often, and graduated from Frankfurt American High School, in Germany, where she lettered in high school tennis. This energetic spirit continued when she became a mother and she loved playing with her girls. Her kindness and gentleness led her to be a caregiver, working as a nurse assistant, volunteering with hospice, and serving as a Stephen Minister at O'Fallon First United Methodist Church. She also worked as a bank teller and as an administrative assistant with FRA in O'Fallon.

Special thanks to Dr. James Wade and his staff and RAI Dialysis for their consistent care and expertise; to the O'Fallon-Shiloh Emergency Medical Services for their amazing dedication and superior performance; to the staff at Memorial Hospital, especially the registered nurses, patient care technicians, and the housekeeping staff on 1 Center and 2 South. Their service to Tanya and her family was above and beyond any expectations. Over the years, these caregivers have become family.

Tanya was preceded in death by her grandfathers, E.F. Rowland and Jack Distler.

Surviving are her dear daughters, Kelsie (Butch Kabureck) Roos, and Emma Roos; her parents, Bill and Patty Rowland; her granddaughter Bay Lynn Kabureck, all of O'Fallon, Illinois; her grandmothers Melvine Rowland of Williamsfield, Ohio; and Alice Distler of Indianapolis, Indiana; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorial donations are suggested to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org).
