Theresa Stella Peters, nee Grzeskowiak, age 80, of Shiloh, Ill., born December 6, 1930 in Chicago, Ill., passed away Monday morning, August 29, 2011 at Clinton Manor Living Center, in New Baden, Ill.

The oldest of four childen, Theresa was raised in Chicago, and lived there for 50 years until her husband's job relocated them to Bartlett, Tenn., where they lived until moving to Shiloh 10 years ago. She had been employed for many years as a retail sales clerk at Sears stores in the Chicago area. Theresa was a loving wife and mother, eager to bake cookies for her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful Catholic and attended St. Clare Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Valentine and Victoria, nee Budzynski, Grzeskowiak.

Surviving are her husband, Thomas Peters, of Shiloh, whom she married March 16, 1952 at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in Cicero, Ill.; her sons, Terrence (Mary Kay) Peters of Greendale, Wisc., Timothy Peters of Marengo, Ill., Thomas (Julie) Peters of Clemson, S.C., and her daughter Kathleen (Jeffrey) Sjoquist of O'Fallon, Ill.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, whom she adored, and showered with cookies, Theresa, Matthew (Bethany), Daniel, Emily, Ellyn, and Kristin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Mrs. Peters may be made to St. Clare Catholic Church Building Fund, Clinton Manor Living Center, Heartland Hospice, or in the form of masses.

Visitation: Friends may call 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Clare Catholic Church, Shiloh, Ill. and one hour prior to Mass on Friday.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2011 at the church with Rev. Jim Deiters presiding.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
