Thomas A. Kues, age 63, of O’Fallon, born March 20, 1963 in Belleville, Ill., passed away June 18, 2026 at his home in O’Fallon. Tom grew up in New Athens and attended Belleville Area College. Tom worked for the O'Fallon Fire Department and for years he worked as a diesel mechanic. He later trained as a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked at Cedar Ridge Healthcare, where he would entertain as an Elvis impersonator. He was a longtime member of the O’Fallon Y and was most proud of owning and operating his own lawn care service. Tom was an avid model train collector and enjoyed attending train shows. He customized his riding lawnmower by decorating it as a red caboose, donned his engineer hat and rode in area parades. He was instrumental in the restoration of the historic caboose, now located in downtown O’Fallon. He was a beloved member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Tom faced his health challenges with determination and maintained his independence as he was able.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents Cyril “John” and Doris, nee Gray, Kues; and brother John Scott Kues (age 6).
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Kues; much-loved grandson Jayden Brown; brother Tim (Terrie) Kues, former wife and caregiver Tammy Kues; niece Tala Kues; stepchildren Tabatha and William Quiles; dear friend Karen Becker; and friends and church family.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Nicholas Church or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with visitation one hour prior, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 625 St. Nicholas Dr., O’Fallon, with Rev. Nick Junker presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
