Thomas Patrick Martin, Jr., age 62, of O'Fallon, Ill., passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family, after a long, brave battle with cancer.

Mr. Martin was born January 31, 1950 in East St. Louis, Ill. to Thomas and Marie (nee Brunkhorst) Martin. He graduated from Assumption High School, E. St. Louis, in 1968, and earned his degree in Business Administration from SIUE. He worked as a contract sales analyst at Peabody Energy for 30 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus O'Fallon Council 4239, and was a devoted husband, dad, and grandfather, who took great pride in his lawn.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law George Comley.


Surviving are his wife Barbara Martin of O'Fallon, whom he married August 23, 1975 in St. Louis; daughter Amy (Eric) Schutzenhofer of O'Fallon, son Tommy Martin of O'Fallon; and grandchildren John and Amanda Schutzenhofer. Also surviving are sisters Mary Comley of Fairview Heights, Pat (Bill) Musser of O'Fallon, and Peggy Martin of O'Fallon; sisters-in-law Mary Dean, Patricia (Terry) Bradley, and Marcia (Tim) McDonough, all of St. Louis; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.


Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, St. Nicholas Building Fund, or St. Vincent de Paul.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Spirituality Center of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, O'Fallon, and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the church.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the church with Rev. William Hitpas, presiding, with interment following at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
