Thomas Francis Peters, age 84, of Shiloh, born October 28, 1930 in Cicero, Illinois, passed away Tuesday evening, September 8, 2015 at Cedarhurst of Shiloh, with family at his side.

Tom grew up in Cicero, Illinois, the only son of Marie, nee Richert, Peters, and assumed the role of "man of the house" at an early age. His deep devotion to his mother helped form the love and dedication he always displayed as father and husband who cared much for his family. He loved baseball as a player, a fan, and a Little League coach. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served as an infantryman and earned the Bronze Star.

Mr. Peters worked as a forging engineer for Taylor Forge in Cicero. Upon retirement, he pursued a decade-long second career as a financial planner. He moved to Shiloh 14 years ago, and attended St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa, nee Grzeskowiak, Peters; and his mother Marie Peters.

Surviving are his sons Terrence (Mary Kay) Peters of Greendale, Wisc., Timothy Peters of Marengo, Ill., Thomas (Julie) Peters of Clemson, S.C., and his daughter Kathleen (Jeffrey) Sjoquist of O'Fallon, Ill. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Theresa, Matthew (Bethany), Daniel, Emily, Ellyn, and Kristin; and great-granddaughter Audrey Renee.

In lieu of flowers and other gifts, memorials be made to St. Clare Church Capital Development Fund, Cedarhurst of Shiloh Activity Fund, or as Masses.

Visitation: Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13, 2015 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Shiloh, Ill. and one hour prior to Mass on Monday.

Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2015 at the church with Rev. Jim Deiters presiding.

Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Shiloh, Ill.
