IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Arnold
Whitehouse
April 22, 1947 – May 23, 2023
"Lights out," in the middle of the day our hero has slipped from mortality.
Our worlds will never be the same, but they are infinitely better
for the time spent in his presence.
Thomas Arnold Whitehouse, born to Opal Fern (nee Carroll) and William Bobbie Whitehouse, Sr. on April 22, 1947, was the second of six children. He attended a one-room school in New Hanover, Illinois for a short time and attended High School in Cahokia, Illinois. Tom enlisted in the United States Army on March 15, 1966. Specialist Four E4 Whitehouse was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device for heroism. His dauntless courage under force and skillful leadership while serving in Vietnam not only earned him 2 Bronze Stars and 2 Purple Heart medals, it revealed the qualities he would be a hero for the rest of his life.
Tom retired from the Scott Air Force Base Commissary in 2007. He met his best friend, Jo Ann, while working there and married her June 3, 2001. He made many friends, was a mentor to many people and will be remembered.
Son, grandson, brother, husband, brother-in-law, uncle, stock car driver, motorcycle rider, hunter, gun enthusiast,
John Wayne fan, fudge taster, divinity shooter, train and car collector, ultimate prankster, and hero!
