Vernell Marie Goodman, nee Munie, age 82, of Carrollton, Tex., formerly of O'Fallon, born June 4, 1932 in O'Fallon, went to be with our Lord on August 23, 2014, while a resident at Woodridge Nursing and Rehab in Grapevine, Tex.
Nell lived in O'Fallon most of her life until moving with her daughter and son-in-law to Carrollton, Texas. After a long struggle with Alzheimer's, she passed peacefully with family by her side. She worked as a bookkeeper at Southview Tom Boy in O'Fallon, and Our Lady of the Snows Shrine in Belleville. But her most rewarding job was that of being a mother and grandmother to us, our spouses, and our friends. She would literally give any of us he coat off her back, her last dollar, or even her last French Fry.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar "Doc" and Matilda "Tilly" nee Rapp, Munie; her son J. Curtis Goodman, grandson Joshua John Goodman; brother William Munie and infant sister Connie.
Surviving are son Larry (Deborah, nee O'Brien) Goodman of Holden Beach, N.C., her daughter Wendy (Paul) Wedesky of Carrollton, Tex.;
her grandchildren Erica Goodman, Vince Goodman, Neely (Aric) Goodman Ellis, and Lauren (Eric) Goodman Hitch, Alex, Adam, and Nicole Wedesky, Marshall (Kendra) Goodman, Brandon (Christina) Goodman, Briana Goodman, and John James Goodman; and her great-grandchildren Tori, Trent, and Gabriel Goodman; Austin, Jax, and Carl Ellis; Taylor, Zachary, and Tilly Hitch; Kaleb and Chase Goodman, Reese, Luca, and Allison Goodman, and Charleece Goodman.
Also surviving are her siblings Mary Jean Wheatley, Delores (Satch) Keller, Patricia (Paul) Gagne, Janet (Roger) Ranek, Karen (Bob) Cotter, and Jim (Sally) Munie, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in memory of Nell are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, as there is no treatment to cure, delay, or stop the progression of this disease.
