Fortified by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church, Vernell Eleanor Rogers, nee Hubert, a recent centenarian, born January 11, 1915, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, February 16, 2015 at her home in O'Fallon.
She retired after more than 33 years as the office manager of Seliga Heating and Cooling, and she has been a long time member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. Vernell delighted in travel with her family, and she enjoyed playing cards and solving puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bernard to whom she was married on April 23,1938.
Vernell is survived by her daughter Margaret (late Vincent) Andrasko of O'Fallon, Ill., daughter Eleanor (Benedict) Janson of St. Louis, Mo., son Bernard James (Eileen) Rogers of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren Stephanie Harvey, Carolyn (Robert) Haas, Elizabeth (Michael) Bude, Jennifer Janson, Andrew (Ellen) Janson, Daniel (Kristin) Janson, Colleen (Joseph) Kinnison, Julie (Kevin) Coughlin, Karen (Eric) Hughes, Kate (Matt) Gordon; and twenty-one great grand children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the St Louis ARC: supporting people with developmental disabilities or to the Sisters of Loretto Retirement Fund.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Shiloh, Illinois, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jim Deiters presiding.
