IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vernon Karl
Lintvedt
June 13, 1953 – April 11, 2024
Reverend Vernon Karl Lintvedt, age 70, of O'Fallon, born June 13, 1953 in St. Louis, Mo., passed away April 11, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Although born in St. Louis, Vern grew up in San Diego where he was Captain of Grossmont High School's football team and was named to California's All-State Team in 1970. As a college student, Vern sang as a member of the Revelaires, a gospel quartet that toured the west coast and recorded with the "father of modern gospel music," Andrae Crouch. He earned his Music degree at Cal State, Long Beach. While a student there, he sang in the chamber choir ensemble, where he met the love of his life, Marty; they married June 6, 1981 in La Mesa, Calif. Vern worked in banking management for a short time before receiving the call to ministry. He earned his Master of Divinity Degree at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis after a year-long vicarage in Waco, Tex. Following seminary, he served as pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Mt. Carmel, Ill. before being led to Blessed Savior Lutheran Church in O'Fallon, where he served as Pastor from 1994 until his retirement in December 2023. He put his faith into action by volunteering with Acts 1:8 Ministry, Meals on Wheels, Camp Pioneer, supporting various church programs, and serving as Counselor for Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Rev. Lintvedt delighted in serving his congregation and community, making music with his friends, teaching about Jesus, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central Division and the San Diego Padres in the NL West. He valued his relationships and held friendships that were deep and many. He loved his family dearly and was a loyal husband, dad, and Grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon Leland and Marie Viola, nee Karl, Lintvedt.
Surviving are his wife, Marty; his children: Erik (Jayni) Lintvedt of O'Fallon, Heidi (Shaun) Brady of Chatham, Travis Lintvedt of O'Fallon, and Kristen Lintvedt of O'Fallon; his grandkids Colton and Jackson Brady, and Zuri and Emil Lintvedt; sisters Beverly (Bruce) Chaffee, Linda Lintvedt; sister-in-law Marie (Steve) Weir, brother-in-law David Olson, several nieces and nephews, and many colleagues and friends.
