Vincent Bazan, age 92, of O'Fallon, born July 10, 1921 in Zabratowka, Poland to Wojcieh and Agata, nee Magryz, Bazan, died February 6, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family.
After enduring much hardship during World War II, Vincent immigrated with his wife and infant son to the U.S. in 1950. He worked at an East St. Louis meat-packing plant more than 20 years, and later, as a handyman.
Family members and friends knew Vince as a hard worker, a loving father, and devoted husband. His religious faith was of great importance to him. Vince's many years of faithful attendance made him a familiar face to those who attended daily Mass services at St. Clare Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard, four sisters, and two half-brothers.
He is survived by his wife Genevieve Bazan; his five children Eugene (Diane) Bazan of Fairview Heights, Theresa (Vernon) Swalley of Caseyville, Edmund, Carol, and Patricia Bazan, all of O'Fallon; daughter-in-law Margie Bazan of Nevada City, Calif.; and five grandchildren Isaac, Malachi, Rose, Grace, and Greg.
Memorial donations may be made to the Landscape Fund of St. Clare Church or to Heartland Hospice.
