Viola "Vi" J. Fuchs, nee Lurtz, age 101 of Belleville passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville. Vi was born in O'Fallon, Ill.

Mrs. Fuchs had previously worked at National Stock Yards Bank and later as a nurse's aide at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows and Lincoln Home. Because Vi loved to be surrounded by the beauty of flowers, floral tributes are welcome.

Mrs. Fuchs was preceded in death by her husband Leonard M. Fuchs, her parents Leander and Emma (nee Schildknecht) Lurtz, her two sisters Delia Anthony and Lenora Taylor, and her two brothers Arnold and Clarence Lurtz, her dear granddaughter Tracey L. Klug; and great grandson Tyler A. Stephens.

She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Jerry) Hurst of Belleville; her granddaughter Suzanne M. Stephens of Belleville, and great-granddaughters Samantha L. Stephens and Amelia E. Hurst, sister-in-law Nidra Lurtz, three nieces and one nephew.

Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Ill.
