Virginia Lee Humphrey "Ginny," nee Mensing, born November 24, 1947 in Belleville, IL, passed away on November 14, 2023 at her home in Granite City, IL.

Ginny grew up in Shiloh, IL, and spent much of her youth visiting her beloved grandparents, Ralph and Mabel, on the Lienesch family farm. Ginny attended nursing school in Belleville. She was an avid world traveler, including trips to Ireland, Greece, Egypt, Hungary, Italy, and of course, to all 50 US states. Ginny enjoyed her monthly lunches with her Belleville West High School alumni friends and was part of a Yahtzee Club for years. She spent a lot of time at the Belleville East Branch YMCA, and enjoyed baking with her granddaughters, and spending time at the family's lake house at Lake of the Ozarks. Ginny was a loving mother, and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother and valued her strong family heritage.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Betty, nee Lienesch, Mensing; her brother Kenneth Mensing; grandchildren Michael and Kirsten; and sister-in-law Cheryl Mensing.

She is survived by husband John Humphrey of Collinsville; children Kristina (Dack) Ledbetter of Maryville, John (Linda Goddard) Humphrey, Jr, of Derby, Kan., Leigh Ann Zupan of Bethalto, and Shauna (Christopher) Modrusic of Pontoon Beach; grandchildren Brittany, Ryan, Lauren, Brent, Kyndra, Krystal, Rachel, Kaylie, Bryce, Kelbie, Emily, Taylor, and McKenna; great-grandchildren Brynlee, Aubree, and Westin; sister Yvonne (Bill) Hurckes, brother James Mensing, and sister-in-law Hoa Mensing.

Visitation: 4-8 pm, Monday, November 20, 2023 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon.

Funeral: Noon, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at the funeral home, with Chaplain Louie Carter officiating, with words of remembrance by Ginny's family. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
